Harper & Sons was honored to be selected as the construction team for this tough renovation in the heart of the active circuit courthouse. The greatest challenge of this 2-phase renovation was ensuring that courthouse operations continued as normal, above, below, and beside the area under construction! This necessitated off-hours work, precision penetrations through post-tensioned concrete deck above and below the space, and perfectly timed shut-downs of utilities. Two existing, active elevators were also modernized as part of the renovation, including adding rear exits from the cabs for a new stop at the 2nd floor. The custom courthouse millwork, benches, and GFRC accent panels were grand additions to the newly constructed lobby and orphan’s courtroom. The renovation also included all new partitions, finishes, interior doors, millwork, public and staff bathrooms, and MEP systems.
